Why would successful Black Millionaires who have scraped their way out of The Hood and into financial prosperity want to give so generously of their time and energy to mentor those who some have called “the underclass” and those upon whom most have given up?

The answer is simple and reflects their understanding that universal laws of prosperity are based on service. The answer reflects their deep understanding of spiritual principles working in their lives and in the world.

These self-made millionaires understand that their success is no success as long as millions of our people languish at the bottom of every ladder - health, education, family stability, economic prosperity.

Beyond “giving-back,” they understand reciprocity, obligation and duty. They have never lived escapist fantasies and because they are self-made millionaires, their success has made them humble. They know the road is rough, that great forces are arrayed against the poor.

These men and women of Faith know too that a greater force, a Higher Power resides in us all. Life, for them “ain’t been no crystal stair.” That Power snatched them from the grips of despair time and time again so they could continue their life’s work.

Now,  they are determined to use their life lessons to rekindle the flames of hope and self love in our people. Now, they are determined to impart the knowledge and skills gained from hard labor so that all our people can rise.

Too do otherwise would squander their real richess indeed.
