We’ll start this section of the WHB Retreat with this reminder
from Oscar Brown, Jr (RIP)
Our quest is to increase our skill in talking about the family aging - our own
and those before and after us. The skill to heal old wounds is key to this
section. When “Elder” is no longer an abstract idea “both/and or
African-centered di-unital thinking and communication becomes
paramount. Seeing elders as they start their great and mighty walk
requires you to manage the future and the past. Your old communications
habits are likely to be insufficient. Make sure you ask about the Family
