That’s what I was told. Maybe you were too. Forget it! Instead, AWARENESS, BALANCE AND AUTHENTICITY has been the key to me using my emotional and cognitive power. The FEELINGS AS MESSENGERS protocol gave me answers that I’ve been seeking for over 15 years. I didn’t know that my learned emotional responses had been falsified - so that I’d do the oppressors bidding abandoning or making war with my own family, community, organizations and businesses. No matter how hard I tried, my efforts to build trust always ended in me hurting someone or me getting hurt. Now, I know why. I also know what to do DIFFERENTLY!

The Flow of Recognition

They called it “The River of Touches.” I call it “my lifeline” I knew that I was powerful. I just didn’t know how to consistently get and give healing touches in my relationships - even with family. Too often my words came out like damning torches burning up my relationships and organizations. Often I was right, but I was also alone. We can’t win alone. While I knew that before, I didn’t know how to turn my damning torches into healing touches - with everyday conversation. The retreat helped me learn to do this. Now, I’ve added some joy and peace to my power! Join me at the retreat and meet me at The River of Touches!

The stories I tell myself about them, about

me, about us and about our beginning,

middle, and end.

I didn’t know that I’d been tricked into

telling my story and my people’s stories

from the outside-in - from the oppressor’s

perspective, values, and goals. Like their

stories about me, I minimized my efforts

unless they met their approval (standard).

Their story had become so standard that I

was making the characters in my own

stories become “universal black orphans.”

The most powerful tool of the weekend was

SIO - Storytelling from the inside-out!

We used to be the master tellers - not just

the Djali (Griots) - our families, too. I had

become the consumers and repeaters of

alien stories about me, about us, the past,

and the future.

WHB: The S/I Line Script

All of these and more are used to convince me that I’m inferior. It started early before I could defend against it. I’ve been hoodwinked, scripted, manipulated to *behave* as if I’m inferior, even when I don’t believe it. I yield to others without even knowing it. The script is hidden in places I’m still discovering. On the flip side, the counter script is also a trap. I then treat others who I care about as if I’m superior to them - especially when I’m challenged. That only creates more conflict! In those relationships, the goal is not to get on top of the line or to stay on the bottom. The goal is to bend it into a circle - then step inside. The tool that has brought more joy, peace, and power to my life is circling the S/I line. Join me and let the circle be unbroken.
